I'm having trouble with the variable list. This first draft is only supposed to have 6 words, but it keeps replicating the same list. I do not know why.

Storyboard & Game Link
The storyboard evolved and was not as complex as I thought it would be. I still need to develop a character for this piece. I'm thinking some type of miner who will have a red hat on the first level. This will be anachronistic as the "red hat" for a new miner was not a concept at the time of the Monongah Disaster. Perhaps I can create a miner with a carbide light on his helmet and the light would get brighter with each correct word that is found.

Parts of the project I really liked are...
ReplyDeleteI like the start of your game. I enjoy word searches because I like a little challenge but the gratification of finding what I’m looking for. I also like that your topic. It was a great idea to incorporate the tools in a word search. I’m sure your idea of creating a minor will turn out awesome.
Parts of the project that I would fix, change or add are....
Working on this project has opened my eyes to how frustrating this can be. I wouldn’t know how, but maybe you can cross out a word once it is found. You wouldn’t have to, but it is an idea. I downloaded the project but am not sure how to help fix the variable list.
Overall I really like this project and am excited to see the finished project! Thanks for sharing and good luck!
The part of your project I liked the best was...that you gave a history and reason to find the word shovel in the crossword. Parts of the projects I would change, fix or add are.....can't really say anything that I would change, fix, or add because you already mentioned that you need to finish the project.

The part I like best is that it is a word find, because really like to do them. I think that students will like it. The part I would change...I can't find anything to suggest, everything I was thinking has already been said.

ReplyDeleteParts of the projects I would change, fix or add are..... Instructions at the beginning - I didn't know what to do after I found the word Shovel.
I think the coal miner character will be essential in helping students take on an identity as they play the game.

ReplyDeleteI had some problems moving past the first word shovel. When working with students it is always best to have directions how to complete the task at hand. I think that a directions page at the beginning of your project or even a character giving some directions would help out!
